The MT5000 cabinet mount TWT high power amplifier is available for C-Band, Ku-Band, and K-DBS
applications at various RF output power levels. The single cabinet amplifier occupies six (6) standard rack
units or 10.50 inches of height. In addition to a standard enclosure, all MT5000 models use a common
power supply, control logic module and cooling subassembly. Modular subassemblies with connector
interfaces are used throughout for easy and straightforward accessibility. Several options are available for
the models in this group.
RF Subassembly
The MT5000 is available using air cooled, single collector TWT technology with output levels of 400 and
700 watts for C-Band (5.850 – 6.425 GHz, option 5.850 – 7.025 GHz), 600, 700 and 750 watts for KuBand
(13.75 – 14.5 GHz, option 12.75 – 14.50 GHz) and 500 watts for K-DBS (17.3 – 18.1 GHz, option
17.3 – 18.4 GHz). The RF circuit includes a coaxial input interface, input isolator, solid state intermediate
power amplifier with electronic attenuator, TWT, waveguide arc detector, output isolator and waveguide
interface including filters and couplers.
Power Supply Subassembly
A resonant mode, modular switching power supply is used in the MT5000. Prime power interface to a wide
variety of AC voltages and frequencies is available without the need to make any modifications – 187 to
264 VAC at 47 to 63 Hertz, single phase. The prime power interface module includes power factor
correction which provides near unity (greater than 0.95 PF) power transfer for the most efficient use of
prime power. All internal DC power is supplied by the power supply subassembly. Automatic recovery for
prime power interruptions (up to 2 minutes) is provided.
